Since an early age, I have always wanted to be involved with health sciences, and I have work as hard as I can to accomplish this dream. I was born into a Hispanic family, and raised in way that puts values ahead of money or economic status. I did not enjoy the luxuries that many of my friends had, but I was taught very strong principles. My father always taught me to work hard no matter what, weather it was for a job, school or a hobby. He always told me that I will encounter many rocks in my path, but that it would be up to me to stay behind that rock and let the rock defeat me, or I could just find a way to continue on my path until the next rock.…

I have grown tremendously in the past three years since I have graduated from ODU. I am looking to grow in my career and also make a difference. For most of my childhood, I basically had my heart set on becoming a veterinarian, along with many other things. Some of the other careers I considered include a surgeon, a physical therapist, an oncologist, and not at all related to those, a photographer. However, after looking into those careers, none of them appealed to me the way a forensic pathologist did. One reason I believe I should go into forensic pathology would be how I have always been interested in murders and other causes of death, especially how investigators and detectives determine how it happened. I have also always wanted to do something in the medical field.…

Professional Statement It is both a rare and marvelous phenomenon when a person is able to assert that they have not only found their passion in life, but are capable of establishing a career out of that same passion. I am one of the providential individuals who have experienced this. I have been irrefutably certain of my passion for the field of speech-language pathology for many years, and as I find myself at the conclusion of undergraduate career, I can proudly state that my fervor has only continued to grow. While there may be many other individuals parallel to me, I wholeheartedly believe that my enthusiasm for the field, willingness to succeed, and resourceful intellect make me an unassailable candidate for a place in your Masters of Speech-Language Pathology program at Nazareth College. At present, I am completing my Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Speech and Hearing Sciences, with a minor in Psychology, at Edinboro University.…

As a Speech-Language-Hearing undergraduate, I have had a combination of experiences and learning opportunities that have prepared me to enter Emerson College’s graduate school program and become a Speech Language Pathologist (SLP). In my personal life, I have always wanted to be part of a profession that serves the public. My mother is a social worker and my father is a public health administrator, which means serving others is in my blood and was modeled to me from a young age. Growing up watching their commitment to the well being of others inspired this commitment in me. I chose to pursue the career path of Speech Language Pathology based on my personal values and family background.…

Like many, I explored many potential career paths, most in healthcare. At first, I was interested in physician assistants, so I decided to take a certified nursing assistant class in order to get more experience with patient care. However, no matter how proficient I was in the classroom portion of the program, I was lacking in the clinical portion. Clinicals were at a nursing home and two students and I were giving a bed bath to one of the residents when they became incontinent.…

My Second Pathway-Bachelor of Health Sciences at Western University The program that I’m interested in taking is the Bachelor of Health Science program at the University of Western Ontario because the program will provide an interdisciplinary perspective on health, a proximate location, and for the university’s accreditation. Firstly, I am excited to go into this program because it will be with professors from a plethora of different traditional academic areas such as Anatomy (of which will provide me with a solid background in biology to allow me to excel in the medical field), Nursing (of which will give me an insight into patient treatment), and Rehabilitation Sciences(of which will improve my understanding of human movement).…

To start off I want to explain what brought me to this class. I have known that I wanted to work with individuals with exceptionalities since early high school, but I found a huge liking to the clinical side of things. I initially was looking at going into occupational therapy and my senior year in high school I shadowed a Speech Language Pathologist and absolutely fell in love. This is my second year at MSUM, but I am a junior credit-wise and have never thought about changing majors. I am also working on getting a minor in special education because it is something I love learning about and that knowledge will be extremely helpful in my future career as a Speech Pathologist.…
