Speech In Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged

During my introduction speech, I did feel nervous at one point of my speech, seeing that the whole audience perceived my every single movement, but I managed to keep myself calm by improvising, when I felt that I had nothing to discuss about. In addition, what helped me throughout my speech was to elaborate on the current book that I was reading, which was called “Atlas Shrugged” by Ayn Rand, and what also assisted me was to move around, so that I could avoid the fight or flight response. Nevertheless, I acknowledge that I may possibly have incorporated filler words at the time, seeing that I did not realize that those words even existed when I would talk. As my introduction speech came to an end, I learned that there existed several issues that I needed to improve on, so that I could achieve my goal. This was clearly displayed in my informative speech, which lasted about 7 minutes. As for my informative speech, I would discuss about how to prepare for the upcoming presidential election on November 8, 2016. This was achieved by providing my three main points to the audience, which remained centered on obtaining political information by news stations, the variety of political parties that currently exist, and the two candidates that will compete for the …show more content…
However, Dakar managed to accomplish this task without hesitation, seeing that he provided valuable information on polyvinyl chloride and fluoride in our water system. But the only issue that I noticed with Dakar was time restriction, seeing that these type of topics usually take about thirty minutes to talk about. On other hand, Dakar still managed to provide an effective demonstration with the device that detects pH levels in our water system, which astonished a majority of the audience, when they received the

After the war, many people look at them differently, after an overarching amount of mean looks and rude comments, it started to affect them. Prompt #1 - Point of View In the novel, Anthem, the author wrote in first person major which provided many merits in the development of the novel. Using the diary as a medium helped develop an understanding of how Equality 7-2521’s life was like and how he changed and grew throughout the novel. By cause of its nature, scientific and technological progress will thrive in an environment where free thinking is allowed and encouraged. In Anthem’s totalitarian society, science and technology is incredibly rudimentary. Their latest invention, the candle, was presented and accepted 100 years ago; they haven’t invented anything in at least a century. When Equality 7-2521 presented his valuable discovery to the Council, they treated him unfairly by disregarding the invention’s many benefits for the society and focusing on the inventor’s so-called “wrongdoing”. The Council condemned Equality for his audacity to disobey the rules that confined him to be a thoughtless, street-sweeping drone.…

Anthem Essay In Anthem there are a lot of things that are misconstrued, including the wording in the book. Once you get past the wording it turns out to be a fantastic book. Ayn Rand has thought everything through and Anthem has been very well put together. Though, there are some questions that I have, and I am going to break the questions down.…

Power and Politics President Bill Clinton, once said: “In our hearts and in our laws, we must treat all our people with fairness and dignity, regardless of their race, religion, gender or sexual orientation. ”(Stephanie Sarkis Ph.D). This defines that we should treat everyone around us equally and fairly even though equality isn’t always fair. In Anthem the scholars have the right to tell everyone what they will do with the rest of their life and when they will eat or when to go to sleep. I stand in my position believing that equality isn’t always fair because every society has different ranks, abilities are being limited, and ethnic groups getting treated differently.…

Anthem and the Concept of Free Will Anthem by Ayn Rand’s “hymn to man’s ego,” The story is about a man’s rebellion in regards to an authoritarian, communist society. A young man by the name Equality 7-2521 craves to comprehend “the Science of Things.’’ The problem is that he exists in a desolate, dystopian future in which sovereign thought is an offense and whereby science and technology have reverted to primeval levels. All terminologies of individualism have been stifled in the world of Anthem: personal belongings are a myth, individual inclinations are viewed as evil and romantic love is outlawed. Furthermore, compliance to the collective is so profoundly deep-rooted that the very term “I” has been obliterated from the language.…

The edits and revisions of Ayn Rand’s novella, Anthem, strengthen the message that collectivism is oppressive and objectivism is necessary for an individual to function. Rand’s edits of diction and sentence structure assist in developing the meaning of the novella. Ayn Rand, author of the novella Anthem, utilizes diction and sentence structure in order to develop the villainy of collectivism and the virtue of objectivism. Rand’s choice of diction in the edited novella complicates and confuses the meaning. In the original manuscript, Rand omits the word “reason,” on two separate occasions, the original statement was “I need no reason ……

Areas that I feel like I have improved in during this communications 101 course is becoming more confident in speaking in front of a small crowd, learning how to write speeches, and learning how to research and prepare for speeches. Everyone 's fear is public speaking. I avoided taking this class for the longest time just because I did not want to have to take a class where its entirety was just about speaking in front of people and doing a handful of speeches being my primary grade. I needed to take this class for when I transfer over to Arizona State University in the fall of 2017 so getting this class out of the way now at the University of Nevada was more of an ideal plan rather than taking it at ASU. This class is a core pre-requisite…

From watching the persuasive speech, it is a recurring theme in my process of watching myself speak that I am much more sympathetic of myself after given said speech.
