In the speech, "Speech at the March on Washington" Josephine Baker explains, " I could go into any restaurant wanted to, and I could drink water any place I wanted to, and I didn’t have to go to a colored toilet either, and I have to tell you it was nice, and I got used to it, and I liked it and I wasn’t afraid someone would shout at me..." However, the amount of people participating in a non violent is vastly more than the number resorting to violence to fix their problems. Many people believe that violent protests achieves nothing that the protester is trying to achieve. Because once a protest gets violent then, if there are police who don’t agree with the protest then they are looking for the smallest reason to arrest someone who is protesting violently. People like Gandhi use non violent protests to try and get the rights they believe they deserve. Non violent protests can have the same, if not better of an affect over protests that turn violent.
