Considering racism We are far from a perfect world; we have many imperfections as a species. Yet the most common and most controversial topic is racism. It comes in many different forms yet is something that happens all around the world. I chose this topic we speak of today because I myself feel very strongly about it and sadly have fallen victim to it like so many others before me. Profiling happens too much in this country and many others that I feel at times us as a society don’t realize when it is happening. For example I work in an environment with many different people from many backgrounds; yet when anyone I work with try to seem funny or witty they revert back to racist jokes. We all can laugh at that right? I think not. It seems to act as an icebreaker to some and to others a means of giving themselves the lime light. The irony in this is we …show more content…
This word is the most used racial slur of all and that’s why I chose to discuss it. It is a term that was created many years ago so as to objectify Africans that were in slavery. African Americans have coined the term “nigga” as a term of solidarity or affection similarly to say dude or bro. Yet when the word is being used outside of the African American groups by another race or Americans it is offensive. In today’s culture you’re teaching Whites, Hispanics and even Asian that it’s cool to say it. It’s not cool and so why are we using it. I would find no comfort if anyone family, friends or other were to casually come up to me and call me a spic and wetback. I have black friends and I know of one is particular who hates the term and hates it all the same when someone else directs that word at him. I got curious one day and I asked he responded quickly in say “we are enabling racist and it continuation” Short but to the point. We can to stop it from happening yet we in essence feed off the cool factor that it
