Give examples of how the practice of ministry has affected your experience and understanding of A) God At the core of my understanding of God is a God of love in covenantal relationship with God’s children. Romans 8:38-39 says it well; “For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” The practice of ministry has only proven to strengthen that belief. I was called early Saturday morning to sit with a family who had just learned of the death of their daughter/granddaughter in a vehicle accident.…

    Fo Ritual Analysis

This body of work was inspired by two things: my fascination with wearable art (such as the pieces created by artists, jewelers or costume designers like Debra Hampton, Rob Elford, Katie Hovencamp, Jeffrey Dever, Melinda Risk, Sandra Wilcoxon, Alexander McQueen or Bob Mackie), and my interest in the rituals that are used by different religious cultures, whether they are monotheistic, polytheistic, centered in animism, or based solely upon plant-induced visionary experiences. I have always felt most drawn to spiritual relationships that are based in nature, such as those used by adherents of Native American or Wiccan belief systems. At the same time, I am attracted to the proceedings and the sacred objects that are used for Catholic, Buddhist, Jewish, and many other religious ceremonies.…

“Look at this place, all of you,” Schäffer said to the others, observing the architecture at the front part of the school, “And examine the wonder of this place. Splendid as it is, every one of us can safely agree that it is gleaming beacon to one of those days when the Children’s Paradise was just beginning to make its appearance in the shape as it is to this day. Someday, and I am not sure when, but when the time will come for us to see the Children’s Paradise soaring higher than it ever had, I would like to see ourselves at the forefront of this renaissance. The rebirth of American Catholic Education, its sudden ushering of the Greater American Catholic School System did not end with the beginning of the Republic; nor did it end, when the Great Leaps Westward marked the beginning of the attempts made to expand both Programs all the way to the West Coast. It continues even to this day, for there is much that…

“Two Kinds” is a story based on a mother and daughter, and how they had their own opinions on how the daughter should be. The mother wanted the best for her daughter, but she also wanted her daughter become something she wasn’t, a child prodigy. The daughter tried to please her mother but in the end she just wanted to be herself, to stick to her own mindset, not her mother's. She tried everything in beginning that her mother wanted her to do, but later grew out of trying to please her mom because she believed it to be unrealistic. She knew she just wasn’t the child that could become a prodigy, at least she didn’t believe that she could be.…

Sometimes you hear about a student at your school threatening to bring to a gun to school but they usually don’t. Well, at Cedar Crest High School in Lebanon, Pennsylvania, it happened, but it was much worse than bringing a gun to school. Matthew, a 16 year old student at that school, heard a boy repeating that he was going to start shooting people at the school. Then Matthew told the police what he knew and the police arrested three students that were going to shoot people at the school.…

After first reading D’J Pancake’s short story, “Time and Again,” it is very easy to compare that story to an episode of Criminal Minds, called “To Hell and Back” (Lucas Turner, 2005, n.p.). When we read the story in class, I immediately began comparing the two together. There are so many similarities between these two stories and their main characters, even if they are different. In both stories, there are men who seem to have a mental disability that causes them to do almost the exact same thing, which is feeding humans to domesticated hogs (Pancake, 2006).…

The three things I am thankful for is family, friends, and my house. I am thankful for these three things because they motivate me to strive hard to achieve my goals. I am thankful for my family because they often looks up to me, and has high expectations for me in life. I appreciate my family having high expectation for me because that motives me not to be mediocre, but inflated to be successful. Next, I am thankful for my friends because they often makes me feel happy when I want to stop working to achieve my goals.…

Many teens in this day and age, specifically ones of Asian descent, will have their parents put unnecessary amounts of stress on them. Most Asian youth are stressed by their parents about their performance in school, where they will go for post secondary education, etc. Putting these burdens on children will result in a large psychological barrier in their minds, as well as lower self esteem (should they not meet their expectations), which makes them think things such as “I can’t do this”, or “I am not worth anything if I don't accomplish these things”, etc. In the story “Two Kinds”, Jing Mei is constantly being tested and pressured by her mother because she is trying to make her “the best she can be”. Jing Mei is extremely irritated by…

In my opinion, the most extreme event that occurred leading up to WWII was that many countries including Canada were not at all willing to accept victims of Nazi persecution, who were only trying to escape Europe. I decided that this was the most extreme event because it cost the lives of so many innocent civilians. The second extreme event that occurred was the issue of Hitler's invasions; which were in direct violation of the Treaty of Versailles. Somehow, Hitler was not at all punished for any of his horrible invasions and continued to cause havoc in Austria, Poland, etc. Finally, my third choice of the most extreme event that happened leading up to WWII was when Canada declared war on Germany even though they lacked both the equipment…

They were told that Nu has agreed to help the family gain a better understanding of this religion, so that a level of respect will be established between Nu and the family.…

    Stuff Happens Analysis

There is a major contrast between the way in which the settings of Translations and Stuff Happens are described in addition to the number of places that feature. For example, in Stuff Happens David Hare frequently changes the setting with generally brief descriptions of Hotel Pierre, Camp David and many other locations, cohering with the play’s chaotic style and numerous characters. The stage directions in Stuff Happens are shorter than in Translations and usually fixate on the characters and their actions as opposed to the set, possibly to highlight the importance of the public figures, demonstrated by the fronted conjunction used to describe De Villepin’s arrival (“And then in comes Dominique de Villepin”) for example. Translations, on…
