Ramadan: A Special Family Tradition Having to deprive yourself of food for almost an entire day seems out of reach to most people, but millions of muslims and even non-muslims partake in such a practice all the time. It takes place on every 9th month of the year, because it is the month in which the holy book of Islam; the "Quran" was revealed. Ramadan is a practice of Islam in which the follower does not eat from 6 in the morning until the sun goes down at a certain time. It is one of five in the "Five Pillars of Islam", a foundation of acts that are considered mandatory for the followers of Islam.
