Philosophy Statement

Teaching disciplines in a public school setting is more than just a list of subjects awaiting mastery. It is more of teaching to the students the information they are interested in learning in a fashion that sparks their interests and the connections of acquiring knowledge that utilizes their life long journey of continuous discoveries. In order to promote the idea of the continuous journey of discovery, I believe all students have the ability to learn all the disciplines offered with in their education. Whether the student is gifted, an average student, or one that needs the support of Special Education. I believe, with the right combination of motivation and presentation, all students have the ability to increase their desires, skills and knowledge

This knowledge base will be wrapped around content that is intriguing, interesting to them and demanding of their internal capabilities. Nevertheless, there will be those time for getting to the brunt of the topic and polish the students memory bank through the grueling memorizing skill of basic facts. At other times students should expect to gain their knowledge through, working independently on a study skill, or working in groups on a larger topic for presentations. In doing so, my students will internalize the connections between what they should learn and what they have learned. With my strong lead, I believe my students will have the chance to achieve what they don’t understand, in a way the compliments all facets of desired information. My positive character will up hold the thought that all my students will never receive a second best opportunity for building knowledge. My students will be held at the top of their learning

    There are some challenges to hands on and cross-curricular learning, within our activity we came across some areas that could have been developed, Hayes (2010) argues that hands on learning its heavily resourced. We agreed with this as the amount of resources we had available were limited.
