Among all issues expressed in the meeting the fifth topic, the Instructional Services, the Learning Directors Clair Rhea of Golden Hills Elementary and Wendy Neufeld of Cummings Valley Elementary, presented information regarding the Approval of Comprehensive Safe Schools Plans for 2016-2017 school year for Cummings Valley Elementary and Golden Hills Elementary. Mrs. Rhea expresses the importance of implementation of strategies in the SSP for teachers and students. These included the monthly fire drill, and how to manage the procedures in class and on campus in situations of emergency. Beside this, the Disaster and Early Release Procedure Plan for students and parents enhanced the importance of how to communicate in case of an emergency. The

First, most of the attendees were bewildered due to the short notice of the special board meeting at 5:30 pm. Then, the regular meeting was forced to start until 6:45 pm. which is scheduled for 6:00 pm. I heard that according to the code of the Board; the teachers and the public should be informed for a reschedule change with 72 hours in advance. I observed that some of the attendees were frustrated due to this unethical procedure. Also, I noticed that not all Tehachapi population is quite equal represented on the board membership, in spite of the 30 percent of the Tehachapi’s population are Latinos. All member are Caucasians and no Latinos were representing that group. Second, the teachers presented all the procedures they have been doing in their school to hold a proficient standard of education in students. Nevertheless, the board voted 0 -7 on topics presented with no solutions were given by the board. This sort of issues cannot wait until something unfortunate happens with students and teachers in class or on campus. Personally, due to all past events of violence and crime involving elementary schools, safety is very important to assist the needs of CVES immediately to prevent deplorable acts.
