Speaking Goals

At the beginning of the term I was determined to become a better speaker. My speaking goal for the class was to become more enthusiastic and louder while publicly speaking. I chose this goal because I was lacking enthusiasm and loudness. This goal would help me become a better public speaker and get my message across to everyone listeninging. Completing my goal was a challenge. I partially did achieve my goal anyhow. I achieved the part of getting louder but I don't feel like I became more enthusiastic. I didn't achieve my goal because I didn't think about it while giving my speeches, I was more worried about getting the speech done and trying to get a good grade. To partially achieve my goal I practiced talking to other people before my speech,

On my demonstrative speech called “How to Play a Guitar,” I pull out different topics related with the instrument like the parts of the guitar, music theory, and the diverse skills playing it. For instance, I spend several weeks figuring out my theme. At the end I found this topic, but like was little late I spent more time in some areas than others ones. One of that well developed areas was my attention getter; was strong enough to hook the people. But, for future speeches maybe using a real guitar or pre-recording music, because it would impact my audience in a different way.…

My core interest talk was about accomplishment and inspiration in my life. It was also about how I became motivated to accomplish what I wanted to do in my life and how I wanted to inspire others like me. During my talk, I really strived to connect with the audience with all the 4 C’s (connection, context, change/climax, and conclusion) in the aspect of storytelling. I also kept fairly calm in my talk and not submitting myself to nervousness. In response to my talks, one of my classroom peers quoted on the peer evaluations that “You followed the 4 C’s and the speech flowed very well and was easy to listen to.”…

Throughout my years, I remember telling my teacher that I would pass my CBA, go to class on time, and to be quiet in class on time, and to be quiet in class. As for me, actions are a lot more powerful than words. For instance, I told my teacher that I would pass my CBA because I had never passed any of her class tests, or quizzes from her. In addition, I also told my teacher that I would go to class on time because throughout the seven weeks of school, I’ve been tardy almost every single day.…

Practice makes perfect as everyone has heard this saying before. In the future, I plan on practicing my speeches more by speaking in front of a mirror over and over again to give myself the impression of what I look like when speaking in front of a group of people. Practicing in front of a mirror over and over again will also help me memorize my speech more instead of relying on my note card as often, giving me more confidence while speaking. I tend to use my note card as a comforting thing when I get nervous and forget what I am about to say. It gives me the chance to collect my thoughts and remember what I was going to say as well as staying on track of where I was going in my speech.…

Speech and Debate When I got into high school, the one class I really wanted to take was Speech and Debate because I rather enjoyed arguing with people. I was not able to join it my freshman year because of band and other classes that I had to take. I did get a small taste of it, though, with Mrs. Thorne. It was a little bit less of an Honors English class and more of a demo Speech and Debate class. This year, when I went to go and decide my classes, I saw that my fourth period was open and I decided that I would take Speech and Debate and try and do the club.…

My informative speech was about the history of cameras. My original idea was to do how to take a good selfie, but half way into doing research about it, I realized that it was super hard to find different tips and information about how to take a good selfie. Most of the information I found was the same so I got the idea about the history of cameras because I had a couple really old cameras at home. I did really enjoy finding out about cameras and how they became a thing. I also thought about cameras because I thought about what things I enjoyed doing…
