Speak Vs Tuesdays With Morrie

In the book Speak and Tuesdays with Morrie the characters both have different background of where they come from and how they were brought up. The characters name in Speak is Melinda Sordino, she is emotional and can only show her feelings with her body language by biting her hands and lips. Which shows why she is emotional and depressed. Morrie Schwartz from Tuesdays with Morrie was a school teacher that developed a terminal disease called ALS at the age of 80. Morrie was a Professor of Sociology and had started to “document” what he was going through mentally while he was dying. These characters in both of these books are very different and show different outlooks on life in general.

In Speak there are some very big problems going on in Melinda's life like how when she was just a freshman when she was raped by a senior in her school. Another big problem in her life is that after she was raped she had serious trauma from it and in turn her grades started to worsen which made her parents and teachers wonder what happened to the old Melinda(Add quote 1). Melinda has a very bad outlook on life and does not have any faith in herself to succeed, she doesn't have many friends except for Heather and Rachel but even Melinda says they're not friends (add quote 3) but even though Rachel and melinda have been friends since grade school and she is important to melinda she still would say that they're not friends. On the other hand Heather is a new kid and melinda formed an awkward relationship with her. In overall Melinda has a bad relationship with her parents, teachers, and her friends(add quote 4)this quote shows how she acts toward her parents and in front of them.
