Much like Melinda, in the novel Speak, I have had multiple experiences in which I have been humiliated, frightened, and even abused. Not quite exactly the same experiences, although. I was an anti-social child up until I moved to Walkerton. I had no friends before the move, ever. I was always the kid picked very last, the one who never did anything correct, who had no friends, the loner, etc. I always kept to myself even before I had started elementary school. I never quite fit in, anywhere I went. I was the poor girl who everyone kicked dirt at whenever they saw her. I was the girl who would get hit randomly.
