I remember when I first walked on to the field with just a clipboard with random names on it, but I looked at each one of you and I saw potential for you guys to improve and become better players. Since that day I made a promise to myself. I promised myself that I will improve each one of you and shape you into the best players to ever wear the Spartan jersey.
One of first things I ever did, with you guys was to make you run 5 miles

Look out for each other, play like you will never play with each other again and make this final game your best game with this team. When I go out there, I want to hear communication among you guys.
All the effort you put in for the last 2 years, All those early mornings, those long practices, those losses and lastly some heart breaks. This season we have struggled and came back from very hard times and we’ve bounced back from many loses but all that made us stronger and a better team which has led us to this day and we are not going to waste this opportunity.
Today I want you to go out there and play this like it’s your last game, I want everyone to leave everything on the field. Don’t give yourself an opportunity to have any regrets. Today prove to the world and yourself why you deserve to be champions. I want you to go out there and play the best game you ever have played, and just remember you playing for your future and the opportunity to go down in the Spartan history as the greatest

To all the seniors that cared about me as an quiet incoming freshman, I owe them everything that I have accomplished this year. So, when they laid out on the field after conceding a PK in double overtime, I felt it my personal mission to help each and every one of them up and tell them about the great game that they had just played. It is because of this interconnected care that we have between each other that we were even in the position that we were…

How am I to show this coach that I’m worth starting with such little time? I transferred to Apex Friendship second semester, my sophomore year right before the start of the lacrosse season. Every player had months of pre-season workouts to show the coach their skills while I had only two weeks to prove I was better than the players he had already been watching for months. I put in as much work that was possible by running fast, playing hard and smart. I needed this coach to see that I had the IQ as well as the ability to play at a higher level than the other guys.…

As the current coaching staff knew, we were struggling without the guidance of our previous coach: every meet was like going into enemy territory, with little hometown crowd support. When our new Coach reminded us that we were unified and could stand with one another knowing that we’d triumph, we were rejuvenated. Commencing our execution of every meet in intention, we were conscious that our effort would amount to…

As the game carried on, our team held a commanding lead after the second game leading ten to six by 34 pins. After the second match, Coach Sanders pulled us all together as a team, and he gave us an uplifting speech. Coach Sanders told us we can’t lose focus although we are winning. He also said we have to keep our foot on the gas and whip their tails, and he reminded us of all the Friday weight room workouts we had gone through to reach this point. He told us to give it our all for the seniors that helped to build the program since they were…

Our coach brought us together at the half and told us this aphorism. This really got us pumped up because we remembered all of the hard work that we had put into practice and we knew that if we did all that we learned and played 100% then we had a chance to win or at least tie. We were also pumped because we were reminded that it would be the last home game for our seniors and we wanted to give our all for them and wanted to win this game for them. We came out strong the next half and played our hearts out, we never gave up. We ended up catching…

With an 8-0 record and a combined point total of 217-14, everyone in our district had high expectations. As the seasons changed and the leaves broke apart and disappeared from sight, so did our highly coveted class of 2018. Half of my teammates either open enroll to other schools or just simply quit with no rhyme or reason to why. What would follow within the next three seasons was nothing less of an absolute beatdown from our opponents. I won't lie, it was heart-wrenching to witness all the work us remaining boys put in and to still have no trophy or banner to represent our efforts.…

We were all glad to have placed well, but were overall disappointed in losing first place by one measly point. Setting the mood for remembering our countless failures and long practices, the seniors went around the group, giving each member of the team their own little speech. When they got to me, every single senior noted how much I had changed over the season. High school sports may not seem like a topic from which to discuss personal development, but it was the catalyst for me. I had not been truly challenged in school until I tried out for a JV sport. When I was a freshman, I tried out for JV softball with a slight overconfidence in my abilities. Consequently, the morning that results were posted, and my name was not on the page (surely, a misprint?), brought feelings of disappointment and disbelief. I tried brushing it off, forgetting about it by 3pm.…
