They taught them how to care for themselves. They trained them to become tough so they can easily go through labor. This was good because back then, women were considered the lowest level of the society. However, Spartans gave women equal rights to men, making them an important part of the society.
Lastly, soldiers started training at the age of 7. Healthy boys were taken to an agoge to train to become a soldier. The troop leader only made them wear one garment per year, so that the boys will learn to survive in the hot and cold days. They also did not wear sandals to teach the boys to adapt to the terrain. The boys were taught to steal small rations of food as well. This improved their stealth skills and made them able to work on an empty stomach.
In conclusion, there were a bunch of things that were wrong about Sparta. One of these were that they killed innocent Helots, or slaves. Despite this, Sparta was one of the most powerful city-states military wise. Historians today are still fascinated with the city-state’s rich culture, and most likely still be studying them in the future as well. The three reasons presented above - they had an advanced military, women were respected, they trained their soldiers at a young age - show that, in the end, the strengths of Spartan education did outweigh the
