From the statements made above, it is clear to say that the men devoted their lives to the military, in fact, it was the job that a Spartan man could have (Spartan Military). Once girls were 18 years old, they took a physical test to confirm their citizenship in Sparta as well as determine how physically fit and healthy they were. Because of this test that all young women had to go through, the training and sports that they began at a young aged prepared them for the test. After the young women passed, she was eligible for marriage and was granted all of her rights as a citizen of Sparta (Spartan Women). Since Sparta had a good foundation of women’s rights, they did not force their women to marry at a young age. After girls were 18 and passed their physical test is when they were eligible to be considered for marriage (Spartan Women). One of the other rights that women in Sparta were allowed to have is the ability to own property. In Sparta, just over a third of the land was owned by women. By having these rights, Spartan women had more freedoms than any other Greek
