Vampire diaries is an engaging book and can capture the mind of all readers. This books first draft was written in 1990 but the book was published in 1993 selling over 200,000 copies. This was her first book of hers that took off and is sometimes called the deadly love triangle due to the love between the Salvator brothers and Elena. This book combines Supernatural, horror, fiction, and fantasy but in the end love over powers all.

At one point someone you love will pass away, this is where it all started when Elena and her parents were in the car driving to mystic falls to see Elena’s aunty. When they had to dodged a person standing in the middle of the road and drove off the side of the bridge, killing not only her mother but her father to leaving her parentless.

She than had to move to mystic falls to live with her aunt Jenna. She also has a brother Jeremy who is a year younger, they were both greatly effected by the loss of the parents. One of the biggest things they will have to face is still to come. On her first day of school Elena acted like she is okay after the tragic loss in her life. Everyone is nice and sympathetic but she doesn’t realise that they know she is bluffing.

She also finds out that her best friend bonnie has a major secret to and is a witch. Her life has gotten worse and worse but she still tries to stay strong her whole life. Her main quote is I have to stay strong if not for myself but for everyone I love and care about, If I do not stay strong I cant expect everyone else to and also my life could be worse I still haven't lost
