Growing up as the only boy in the house my parents would spoil me a lot. They would let me get away with a lot of stuff from cussing to breaking stuff. My mom would always define me no matter what and she always tell me, growing up, that religion was the only way to live a happy life. At first I doubted my mother, then as I grew up it all made sense.
Growing up I would get all the new toys and new shoes, after all my parents waited and prayed for five years for a child. According to the article “Thou Shalt Not Abuse” “…parents can spank children until age 18; Focus on the Family limits it to kids 5 and under”. I don’t think spanking should be the first thing to do but it should be a factor. For example I work as a waiter and I see children commanding and telling their parents to shut up and much more disrespectful words. That’s when spanking should come in once a child steps out of their place in public. Spank was a factor once I raised up my little sibling because I took an oath not to spank my children or any children I look after. As times got ruff and out of control I could see where spanking would come in control but I wouldn’t do it. Spanking was my enemy but it is needed. I would never spank I believe that cussing or timeouts helps relieve a lot of stress which doesn’t cause you to spank your child. I am against child abuse. I believe that there is a thin line between child abuse and spanking. Finally, I believe that the spanking and the child abuse made me the person I am today because unfortunately, I have experienced child abuse but surpassed it and am totally against

Parents have to be cautious when disciplining their children to avoid trouble. Unfortunately, there is not a set behavior that warrants a spanking. Some sources say that it is okay to spank because it aids in building a strong relationship of respect with the parent and child, and it results in well-mannered children and adults. Parents also say that it is normal to spank children and that it is just disciplinary actions (“The Spanking Debate” 1).…

“The Bible Belt states, where ardent Protestant Fundamentalism is strong, have been identified consistently as leading the nation in the use of corporal punishment as a disciplinary tool in schools (Milling, 1991)” (Richardson, 1994). This is mainly because of the amount of corporal punishment shown in The Bible and how people tend to follow what happens in the Bible very strictly.
