If an arms race in outer space were to occur the result could be catastrophic. Space is the next frontier, multiple countries are moving forward with space exploration. However some countries are putting their research towards space weapons. This is bad because it could cause a space weapons race. A space weapon is considered different things among different countries. What is agreed however is that a space weapon can be harmful in some way.

Space debris is a huge problem in space. Space debris is caused from broken spacecraft. It also can be caused by asteroids hitting regular spacecraft. Many countries are against space exploration because of debris. There has been resolutions on debris however most have not been adopted because not all

We need to prevent something like this from happening again. Norway currently does not have a government owned a spaceport. So therefore they do not conventional means of getting to space. Norway is for preventing space weapons that can hurt civilians. The one country that is against treaties preventing space weapons is the United States of America. Israel is abstain. Many other countries are for these treaties.

Norway is for preventing a space race in outer space. Norway (for the most part) agrees with the EU international code of conduct for outer space activities. Norway is not for using space for weapons. One reason we need to stop weapons in outer space is because we could be researching peaceful things. Such as colonization or space exploration.

In 1952 the UN created the committee Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (COPUOS) shortly after he sputnik was launched (a Russian spacecraft). One reason we have to stop this from happening is to keep a weapon from destroying our planet. This is a way to convince other countries because if the planet is blown up every person on the planet is killed. This obviously is bad for all countries.
