Functions Of The Space Shuttle

Another primary function of the space shuttle is to send satellites off to space. Therefore, it’ll require a component to hold the satellite along with the crew. Also, the orbiter will need to handle additional payload. If this function fails, the space shuttle would not be able to take flight or safely fly up to space with the satellite. Furthermore, there should be an additional thrust to help the orbiter to escape the gravitational pull. the space shuttle should be reusable (Dunbar). Therefore, it will need a component to do this task. This component end up being the solid rocket boosters. Also, the solid rocket boosters were required to provide 80% of thrust and operate in parallel with the main engines of the orbiter for two minutes. Another primary function of the space shuttle is to be reusable. Majority of components needed to be reusable for future launches to cut down cost. For instance, the orbiter needs to be reusable after each launch. Also, the solid rocket boosters will be recovered and refurbished after each launch.
