Gravity : Space Mission Gone Wrong

Gravity is a movie about an astronaut who survive after a catastrophe destroys her shuttle and leaves her adrift in the orbit. The movie was released in 2013 and it falls under the Sci-Fi and thriller category. It is a tense and visually stunning movie which is directed by Alfonso Cuarón. The main casts of the movie are Sandra Bullock and George Clooney.

The movie opened with a shot of the earth and space, and it was absolutely beautiful. The visual effects were so well done that it made me wonder if some parts of the movie were shot in space or not. In the movie, George Clooney plays as a veteran astronaut named Matt Kowalski, he is the pilot of the space ship. Sandra Bullock plays as Dr. Ryan Stone, who is a bio-medical engineer. She is a Mission Specialist on her first space shuttle mission.

But an alarm suddenly alerts her to a fire. She makes her way to the module where the fire is and attempts to put it out. She knocks the flames down and pushes through them towards the Soyuz. She then exits the spacecraft to release the cables when the debris field completes its orbit. Free of the ISS space station and the parachute lines, Stone enters the spacecraft again and aligns it with the Chinese space station. She fires the thrusters but the fuel tanks are empty. Stone realizes she is stranded and believes she'll die. She slows the oxygen flow which will cause her to fall into unconsciousness from lack of oxygen before she dies. As she begins to lose consciousness, Kowalski suddenly appears outside, opens the spacecraft lock, and enters the cabin. He cheerfully asks her if she wants to live or die. He tells her to use the Soyuz's landing rockets to reach Tiangong. But this was a dream, she realizes it after she wakes up from being passed out. Stone restores the flow of oxygen and uses the landing thrusters to navigate towards

Repetition of the question “How do they” further adds to the stone by portraying the speaker as frustrated and astonished with this human nature. This repetitive use of “they” and other pronouns such as: “the ones” and “each other”, provide the reader with the only sense of characterization----the general public. Sadly, there is no rhyme to enjoy; however there are strategic line breaks that highlight the various sex puns stored inside. For example, the repetition and alliteration of “come to the…” (which “come” is the pun) and the breaking of this repetition into two lines, tells the tale of the journey to…

In April, 1970, the same year that China had its first satellite, Dong Fang Hong 1, launched into orbit using a March-1 Long Rocket; America was on its way to launch its seventh manned mission to the moon, but what would have been another great achievement of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration as well as the united states as a whole had become what astronaut James A. Lovell called a “successful failure” due to the fact that the integrity of their spacecraft had been compromised because of an explosion that happened on board and the mission needed to be repressed and the pilots returned home. On April 11, 1970 the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, also known as NASA, sent James A. Lovell, a highly decorated commander…

The rocks do eventually reappear at the end, as the murder weapons. Following Bobby Martin’s example, who, “already stuffed his pockets full of stones, and the other boys soon followed his example, selecting the smoothest and roundest stones … eventually made a great pile of stones”(Jackson 1). This illustrates foreshadowing, as the purpose of the stones is not revealed until the very end, creating suspense and keeps the reader interested. This example of foreshadowing fits the classical archetype for horror stories, as it creates mystery, and helps to explain Tessie’s murder that occurs later on. A common archetype of horror stories, is strange murder weapons.…
