“Space, the final frontier,” at least that is what is said in Gene Roddenberry’s Star Trek television show. Outer space has been a big topic since humans have existed the thought of being among the stars and exploring space. This curiosity became a reality with the creation of NASA on July 29, 1956 bringing about a time of space exploration. Even though it didn't make it to the moon for years to come it narrowed down brilliant minds onto the task of getting to the moon. With many victories and failures it has lost its funding. Which brings up the question; should humanity go to privatized space travel and exploration? Space Exploration should be a combination of private and public programs because it will give more room for innovation, which will save humanity if our planet dies.
The biggest talk in the space exploration field is Elon Musk’s rocket company SpaceX (Space Exploration Technology). They are becoming a big company due to Musk’s other companies that started his billionaire life. Such as PayPal Musk’s first successful business he co-founded in 1998. …show more content…
The main argument is due to their constant contracting of SpaceX to do the shipments and test flights to further space exploration. NASA has to use these private companies because of their heavy budget cuts the US (United States) Federal Government takes from the space program. New Scientist published “NASA is facing a $260 million funding cut in 2017” (February 20, 2016). This hampers their progress meaning they have to look to other places to do the work behind their math.The space program NASA even though they used to be the pioneers have faded due to lack of funding and public interest.
