A long-term solution to the problem of overpopulation is space exploration and colonization. While this may be many years out from being able to colonize a planet it is still a viable resource to take advantage of and make it of use. NASA is a strong believer in the benefits of space and what it can do for us “solar panels to implantable heart monitors, from cancer therapy to lightweight materials, and from water‐purification systems to improved computing systems and to a global search‐and‐rescue system” (Benefits Stemming) those are a few of the things space has already brought to us along with many others, the capacity for new ideas and innovation is endless. Exploring space could even lead to solving other problems with overpopulation, we could use data suggested by other planets and even be able to make more in-depth hypothesis about global warming and how we could solve it. Not only do are we able to fix problems we caused it also allows to be able to stop problems that could arise in the future. It allows humans to be better protected from any type of attack, natural disaster, or accident if something were to happen we could potentially already be equipped to handle it, not as one nation but as a population standing united as one to overcome the adversity. Space is one of the few times in history where the world has come together for the greater good …show more content…
While we do not know a certain timeline Future Space offers us seven steps that they believe would be the step to settling on a different planet. Basically what the steps call for step-by-step are: find a cheaper mode of travel, have a base of operation like the ISS, build a gateway earth, have a reusable tug which will be used for transport, filling stations for the gateway earth, interplanetary vehicle, and lastly a way to live of the land we land on. The things found in the seven steps will not be completed for the foreseeable future, it will take many generations to complete but it is very crucial to be able to mitigate the problem of overpopulation. It may be a stretch to say that space exploration and colonization will be able to solve the problem of overpopulation. Although it is not stretch to say that it will be able to start the war against it. Anything to do with space is still years off and maybe the disastrous effects would have already happened, we as a race would be able to learn from our mistakes and build a new civilization that would be cherished and preserved and not pilfered and trampled
