The Southwest Vocal Project (SVP) is a women’s a cappella group with 27 members. SVP is an all women’s chorus; they have a male director named Cary Burns. The average age range is primarily 50 years or older. SVP formed in 2012 and based in Tempe, Ariz. SVP performs barbershop a cappella style, which consists of a four-part harmony. SVP is a member of Sweet Adelines International (SAI). SVP has won two awards at SAI competitions. The name SVP comes from location and the word ‘project’ gives the impression of a work in progress.
