This report discusses the future development of The Southport Spit. The purpose of this report is to discuss the recommendations to the issues of The Southport Spit. The Spit is located opposite of Southport and north of Main beach, Gold Coast. It is a permanent sand spit that separates the Southport Broadwater from the Pacific Ocean. The Spit is facing a geographical proposal of major development of either proposal 1, which is to extend the Morten Bay Marine Park to include The Spit and Broadwater. This ensures the protection of the natural landscape, continuous tourism and public access to parks in the area. The second proposal is to build a resort and casino at Main Beach which will promote job opportunities, tourism and a large rise in
