Southern Tier Aids Reflection

Decent Essays

The good folks at the Southern Tier AIDS Program even agreed to provide me the same number I wore last year:

Slipping my boots on, my focus was fully on the task of getting my mare bathed and ready for the barrel race we were heading to that evening. My thoughts racing in my head as I reached for her halter and lead from the hanger on the tack room wall. Aids and Accusation Aids and Accusation, written by Paul Farmer, is a book that truly captures and describes the epidemiology and history of HIV/AIDS in Haiti. Farmer’s immergence into the Haitian community during his research, alongside his educational background as a medical anthropologist and physician, contributed greatly to his approach of providing a deeply holistic understanding of HIV/AIDS in Haiti to the public for the first time (Farmer 2006:253). Through ethnographical, epidemiological and historical data, Farmer shows how the effects of social inequalities, such as racism and poverty, were the main contributors of how the suffering, illness, disease, and violence effects of HIV/AIDS were distributed amongst people in Haiti, and…

I started out both days of a busy weekend by running the Rugged Maniac course in Englishtown NJ. At this point, I have pretty much done most of the OCR’s that are on my bucket list to complete, but Rugged Maniac was one of the few left that I had yet to complete, so I was excited about this weekend and the chance to run the course on both Saturday and Sunday. • Festival / Spectator Area: I have participated in four other different events at this specific Englishtown venue and all but one have used the same section/area to setup the festival area. Rugged Maniac used the area much like the two previous OCR’s that setup in the same area and created a well-balanced area with two obstacles setup just next to the festival.…

This particular health goal was chosen for the reason that I felt my cardiovascular endurance could use improvement in comparison to my sprinting speed. It was a weak point that I want to address because when sprinting, I could not maintain my speed for long periods of time or distances. In addition, I plan to join the track team in the spring and hope to prepare myself for it.
