Southern Mississippi Reflection

The University of Southern Mississippi means growth. In the three semesters I have attended this university, I have grown more as a person than ever imagined. The most significant thing I have learned is that there is no limit to the quantity that one can grow and the amount one can learn. Transitioning from a private school to public school was probably one of the hardest things I have ever had to adapt to because of how different and how surreal the environment was. The most difficult part of this transitioning was finding a group of friends, or at least a friend, where I can be with and feel comfortable with. I was put at a disadvantage because everyone already knew each other from their public…

Luther college Close nit community, supportive, and home are three adjectives I think of when I think of Luther College. When deciding on what college I was going to attend one of the ultimately helped me choose Luther was the community. From my freshman year experiences at Luther my peers on campus made Luther truly feel like I was at home. “Home” isn’t the house you grew up in, it is a place or places that make you truly feel yourself and complete. Luther, Spirit in the Pines, and my house I grew up in are the three places that I would call my homes.…

During my one visit to Appalachian State, I was able to to witness the overall beauty of the campus, as well as the ubiquitous sense of community. Moreover, the immense focus towards conservation stood out to me, as I have always been extremely passionate about preserving the environment. The story I have chosen for reflection was completed as an assignment for CMJ 256, the story was a report on an event during final exam week when the therapy canines visited the students. Moreover, in the story I wanted to put a spotlight on the trainers and their dedication on using animal therapy by making it accessible not only to students during finals week but year around; such as hospitals, airports, and even in prisons. Things that could make the story better is having photos or a video of the event that shows how the canines are able distract students from a stressful time and refresh. Additionally, I could have cited sources that have graphics and scientific studies that were done to make a point of why Grand Valley has this event.…

    Fall River Reflection

Over the course of my visits to Fall River I think that my capacity to observe my environment and the factories stayed consistent. I naturally pay attention to minute factors and functions of my surroundings which I think is why I tended to focus on the machines and the smaller aspects of the factory. I also tend to be more reserved in social situations which lends myself to not being as willing to approach people, particularly because of the language barriers we faced at both factories and that such a great number of the employees did not wish to participate in the project. I think that over the course of my visits I was able to conceptualize all of the small parts of the factories and understand how they work in unison but I was not able…

I realized a great truth on a trip to the Bahamas Ideas like classroom-based learning, the stressed importance of homework, and sometimes boring lectures are expressed daily in schools nationwide. These tedious techniques are nails being pounded into our brains by hammers. Being the son of an educator, I was slightly pressured into believing these ideas were the correct way to learn. An unexpected epiphany occurred after an expedition to Andros Island of the Bahamas. I sit down on the blue cloth seats of the cramped rickety plane that will transport us back to the United States.…
