Southern Methodist University Personal Statement

Southern Methodist University has been my dream university for many years. Achieving admission to this spectacular university was a miracle in itself; however, the cost of attendance is a struggle of itself. Receiving this scholarship would help enable myself to educate my mind at one of the nation’s and state’s best universities. I have lived in Lindale all my life, went to the same church and school, and even lived in the same house, but attending this university would forever shape my life and increase the opportunities and resources available to me. I want the love I have for Lindale Independent School District to transfer to the college of my choice, and that college is Southern Methodist University.
I have always been a determined, brightminded individual and have prospered throughout a variety of activities. Organizations such as Lindale Band, Lindale Majorettes, FFA, National Honors Society, and the Senior Legacy Project have allowed for a prosperous, well-rounded education to be available to myself and many others every year. I plan to major in engineering or mathematics, because I have always been drawn towards a STEM career. I plan to create a string of connections that will aid me later in life, and plan to start my career as soon as possible. Hopefully college will become the best experience in my young adult life, and help humble and shape my future for the better. I plan for college to allow time to explore the culture of the world and understand a multitude of question that I can now not comprehend. Despite the fear of graduation, I know this next step in my life will help me reach my academic goals and life ambitions. I am ready to take the next step and follow through with my academic
