South Florida Climate Change Essay

Climate change is already a problem is South Florida. Some people are using this to profit. There are floating villages being made from rocky quarries. There is development company that made floating villages that are expensive, but have a climate-conscious design, they can resist natural disasters better than other buildings can. The businesses are still focused on how to make money and keep growing even while there is impending disaster. The floating villages is just one of the many floating opportunities there are, while South Florida sinks, these floating building survive. There is money to be made. The ocean is estimated to increase 2 feet by 2060 and 6.6 feet by 2100. 2.4 million people in the state live less than 4 feet above high tide. All of the 1350 miles of coastline are at risk. Many people will be affected by drastic weather changes that are common in South Florida, which only increase as the years go on. Half the state’s beaches are already eroding. A sewage-treatment plant and a nuclear power plant will both be stranded. Saltwater would begin to contaminate drinking water. When I’m old the entire Earth will be different because of climate change. In 2060 I will be 65, which is odd to think about. Most people think that they won’t see the effects of climate change in their lifetimes, but my generation and the generations after me will see a lot of the effects, so we will be the ones who will be the ones to try to fights it. I think once people actually get scared about a problem, then they will do something about the problem, people just aren’t scared yet, it’s not something that is thought about, and now we have a president-elect that doesn’t even believe in climate change, so that put us backwards a
