Many of the things being taught in this course, is being carried out in my current internship with PPP. One of the main takeaways that I’m learning from this course and the internship, is that many times, a lot of offender are not successful with probation for many different reasons. Such as not being able to pass drug test, paying off their fines due to homelessness, etc. These are some of the many challenges that this state organization faces. Many times I hear probation agents telling their offenders, to try their very best to pay their fines off, because if they have compliance credits, which work as good time credits in a sense, they may be able to get off probation earlier than …show more content…
The agent is the person who has the first hand contact with offenders and therefore the agent, set aside from victims, know the offenders best. Hence, when a recommendation is made by an agent, they are looking out for the greater good of the offender being rehabilitated, but also keeping the communities safety in the forefront. The probation agent role is a very important role to our society because of their discretionary powers within the criminal justice community.
