On December 20, 1860, South Carolina was the first state to secede from the union. This initial event confirmed the inevitable, the Civil War. After the secession of South Carolina, a slippery slope was born. With this slippery slope, multiple states began seceding from the union. These seceded states formed the Confederate States.
The Conderate states had many different beliefs compared to the Union. They practiced slavery while the north wished to abolish. In adition, there were many different a opionions, such as state’srights. These opionions led to the Civil War, one of the bloodiest battles in history. On February 18, 1861, delegates from the Conderacy met in Montgomery, Alabama and inaugurated the first president of the Confederacy,
