She was selected and was granted a generous scholarship, study abroad opportunities, the option to take honors courses, go on several trips and participate in numerous events with other Tutwiler Scholars.

“When you first meet Caitlyn, she seems very easy going, almost shy. But when you get to know her, you see that she’s driven to win, whether it’s in a triathlon or in academics. And the person she competes hardest against is herself—she’s always pushing herself to become better, faster, smarter,” said Dr. Lesa Shaul, the director of UWA’s Honors Program.
By the time classes started, Muncher realized that she wanted more out of her college experience and decided to attend sorority recruitment. Despite her coach’s disapproval, Muncher accepted a bid from Phi Mu.

“I had my doubts about Caitlyn’s schedule, but she assured me that she would be able to handle everything. Because of her grades, high school involvement and level of commitment, I did not have many” said Nicosia. Muncher demonstrated she could handle her busy schedule by completing her first semester of college with a 4.0
