Sources Of Spous Effective Leadership In The Military

While preparing to deploy, during deployment, and returning from deployment, Leaders and Soldiers can get stressed out as mentioned in the previous paragraphs. All are challenged with getting the mission done. There are plenty of threats that prompt stress in the military. These threats while deployed are the enemy, being in a different environment Soldiers are typically not used to, subpar living conditions, being away from family, or being restrained to the perimeter of the base. Although it is very dangerous over in Iraq and Afghanistan there are opportunities for all to contact family and friends, go to a gym, run, and watch movies; if a Soldier has down time. These such actions enable the Soldier to unwind and relieve some stress before the next mission or task. The family is supposed to be a Soldiers support system while deployed. Sometimes this is the case and sometimes it is not the case. Sources of support from the family may be in the form of care-packages or communications through email. These care-packages do lift up the morale of Soldiers, while trying to deal with the stressors brought on by being deployed to hazardous locations. In contrast, sometimes the family can be an added stressor. Sometimes, while married a Soldier will get word that their wives/ husbands have spent all the Soldiers’ money.
