I am still reading the book Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn, this story has been very interesting and suspenseful. The book is based off of Nick and Amy Dunne’s relationship and Amy’s disappearance. One thing about this book that I’ve noticed that is quite odd is the way Amy sees her husband Nick and how Nick treats Amy. In this story Amy provides lots of examples of her and Nick’s relationship and her true feelings for Nick.
Nick truly does care for Amy but the way he shows it Amy thinks differently. It was Amy and Nick’s 3rd wedding anniversary and Amy was alone the whole day in her apartment waiting for Nick to come home, then suddenly she gets a voicemail from Nick and she hears a room full of guys in the background and Nick with a lazy boozed voice. Nick was at a bar. All Amy could think of is their special day going to waste. This day represented their love, when they became a family and Nick just totally ruined it. Amy waited, and waited and waited for Nick to come home. Nick came home right after 4 and didn’t even acknowledge that Amy stayed up waiting for him or that he missed their wedding anniversary. The first thing that came out of Amy’s mouth was “ Happy day after anniversary.” Nick wasn’t very happy about that response and started to make excuses like “My friends just lost their job and I was just trying to comfort them.” Amy was already very emotional but the second that those words came out of his mouth Amy lost it. Amy called Nick a few names and that was when Nick was over it and told Amy “F**k you” Amy noticed how those words came out so smoothly and how he has wanted to say it before.
