Being able to put a sentence together is a skill a secretary needs, and the system failed to give her that information. Because the system allows social promotion many students aren’t able to obtain the skills needed. Education is like a house, and each grade represents a fundamental of the house. At the end everyone had a house, but not every house will function. Some might get cold in winter while others don’t have any electricity. The system skips procedure checks taking away fundamentals. By the end of term one his grades were nowhere like the ones he got in high school because “[nobody] from the school called him to ask him why such a good student was faring so poorly[;]…. he could have soared in college—with help” (Har).
