Sorrow: A Feeling Of Distress

Improved Essays
Sorrow: A feeling of deep distress caused by loss, disappointment, or other misfortune. Sorrow is one of the emotions that drive us through life. It’s like a car with four wheels: sorrow is one wheel, another is happiness, guilt is another, and the last is love. We go through so many emotions everyday, every week, every year.
Imagine losing someone. Someone you love, someone you cared about. Imagine not ever being able to talk to them, not even to say “I love you” one last time. People have many ways of dealing with this...with this sorrow. Adam Lanza, walked into Sandy Hook Elementary School, proceeded to shoot people in the office, then continued to different classrooms throughout the school. In this attack 20 students, ages 6 to 7

My papa passed away during the summertime, a couple weeks before my 16th birthday. Not saying that my papa and I never got along, but there were habits that he would do that would drive me insane. I didn’t spend a lot of time with my papa in my lifetime, mostly because of these habits that he had. Although he had these habits, I still loved him, I just didn’t express it as much I had hoped to. When I heard that he had passed away, I instantly felt guilt about the way that I treated him, because of the bad habits that he had. I felt instant regret about this, and knew that I would never be able to tell him “I love you” one last time.
Guilt, and love were my main feelings that lead me to the sorrow that I felt after my papa had passed. I know that what happened was the best thing for him, but I still feel this way when I think about him.
Other people feel misery when they feel sorrow. Terrorist attacks bring out this emotion. The 9.11 terrorist attacks left many American in sorrow, and misery. Two airplanes flying from San Francisco were hijacked, by terrorists, and were flown into the Twin Towers in New York City on September 11, 2001. Kurt Cobain on April 8, 1994 was found dead with a gunshot to his head in his home. The autopsy concluded that three days later on April 5th he had committed suicide by shooting himself in the head. Traces of drugs like heroin were found in his system (another thing people who suffer from depression turn to to “help the pain”).
Kurt Cobain as a kid was diagnosed with ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder), and Bipolar disorder (also known as manic depression). These disorders could’ve lead to Kurt Cobain suffering from depression. Things that could’ve also lead to him committing suicide was that he was on the verge of having a divorce with his wife at the time, Courtney Love. He seemed to be depressed in interviews that he had before he had committed suicide All of the fans of Nirvana were in heartache when they hear the news of Kurt Cobain 's death. Feeling guilt, because they wanted to make his life the best. Feeling their love for him even more, knowing that the band will never make anything new. Also happiness to know that they supported him, and that they were there when he was happy.
Sorrow isn’t just sadness. Sorrow is farther than sadness, it’s that feeling when people know nothing can change, and no one can’t do anything about it. Sorrow is needed. It’s the fourth wheel on the car, otherwise how would we drive our whole

That was not the case because the Seattle Police Department said it could’ve been self-inflicted but maybe just maybe they’re just hiding the truth from the public and the beloved fans of Nirvana.…

However, if we were to trust these autopsy reports and Marilyn Monroe died from drug overdose of sleeping pills, did she commit suicide? Here’s some perspective: being a Hollywood star is not always the glamorous life that we, the general public, believe it to be. At the end of the day, Marilyn Monroe was human with her own tragic, internal struggles. She would wake up and lay in bed for a few minutes, maybe hours, just contemplating whether if it was even worth the effort of getting out of bed. When she did eventually and begrudgingly pull herself from the claws of her comforter, she would then hide her sorrow by covering the bags of her eyes with concealer, widen her tearful eyes with mascara and eyeliner, and apply her iconic red lipstick…

Guilt is a strong emotion which is often magnified because the bereaved are in an extremely vulnerable state. The guilt is often experienced when the bereaved try to answer the unanswerable: "Why did my loved one have to die?" It is important to accept guilt, and to understand it and to deal with it. It's unhealthy and even damaging to stay with guilty feelings. It may take great effort but it is worth such effort because guilt that is unrecognized or unresolved for a long period may lead to psychosomatic illnesses and to years of unhappiness.…

Grief has been both my downfall and my saving grace. No one knows how to grieve properly or correctly, but the one thing I learned from grieving at a very young age, is that grief is love; specifically, unconditional love. This unconditional love towards someone (or in my case, many people) pours out as a sign of loneliness and yearning just to hold them and hug them one final time. I understand that losing people is a part of life and can’t be avoided, but growing up, I thought my world had turned upside down when I lost the two most important people to me. Three weeks prior to my tenth birthday, my Nana passed away from Alzheimer’s Disease.…
