When you think of Ashton Kutcher you think of comedy. When you think of Rosa Parks you think of Civil Rights. When you think of Michael Jordan you think of basketball. When you think of John Paul II you think of religion. Did you know that all of these people were involved in Greek life? I just made you a little more interested in Sororities did I not? Yes, members do have to pay dues to be a part of a sorority. However, many people ignore the fact that there is an enormous amount of money in the Greek society. Endless numbers of alumni and organizations create scholarship funds to make the dream more of a reality for qualifying students. Another thing to remember is the first semester of a sister’s membership is always the most expensive! It only gets cheaper from here on out. Do not forget the money you pay is going to a good cause. The money collected by the sorority goes towards its philanthropy, sisterhood retreats and events, formals and date parties, living accommodations, and countless other facets sorority life …show more content…
Hazing used to be a problem in Greek life. I want to emphasize the word “used.” Hazing used to be an incredibly large problem nation-wide in sororities; However, hazing is no longer an issue in most sorority chapters. Of course I cannot say it never happens because that would be an extremely far stretch of the truth, but I can say that the University of Kentucky has a strict “no hazing” policy currently in effect (University). In no way, shape, or form is hazing permitted on the university’s campus. It is strictly prohibited and is enforced to a great extent. I have never witnessed hazing, nor do I plan to witness any hazing while at my time at the University of
