The Sorna and Suona are both interesting instruments because they are so similar but come from different cultures. After doing some research I found out that the Sorna, said to be from Achaemenid Dynasty (550-330BCE), is a double reed woodwind instrument from a Persian and Iranian background. They are not too large but give off a very powerful sound as well as sounds similar to an oboe. Reading from sources online they have said that the Sorna influenced the Suona which is a Chinese instrument, said to be from the Jin Dynasty (265-420), that is very similar to the Sorna.
