Sophomore year of high school has many twists and turns it is the year of poor decisions and life lessons. This year in my life I have learned from many of my mistakes and from lessons taught at school. These lessons will influence my life for me to become a better person. Many lessons were taught in the book The Great Gatsby which has shaped me as a person. One of the lessons within the book was that money cannot buy love. When Gatsby was throwing parties for Daisy and spending his money carelessly to impress her showed this theme. It’s also shown when he had many people attend his parties yet nobody expect Nick attended his funeral. Love and friendship are something that needs to be earned through good works and compassion.
