I wasn’t ready for college after I graduated from high school – I didn’t even now if I wanted to go to college at all. I was always somewhat “sickly” in school – lots of earaches and headaches. My parents took me to the doctors a lot – and I mean a lot – but the doctors could never figure out what was causing the problems. After high school, I wanted a fabulous job, money, independence and to live on my own in Los Angeles (the Big City.) Four months after High School I got my first job as an Account Representative at a Hair Care Company called “Esuchen” based in the Inland Empire of Los Angeles. I wasn’t making a lot of money but I was living at home, I didn’t have to pay bills, or rent, I was free to stay home as long as I wanted. I rationalized that that I was working for one of the “up and coming” hair care franchises in the country, so what if I am starting at the bottom, I can work my way up. I thought, “This is good.” It wasn’t. I was 17 at the time. Today, I am 27 years old, still living at home, still wanting that job, money, and independence. Remember those headaches I mentioned above – well they took over my body with repeated visits to the hospital. I was so sick, that I became interested in the health care industry. Oh by the way, it is my sister that’s in the health care. She is pursuing a Doctorate in nursing degree. I now wanted to help people. It was my personal health experiences that made me want to pursue this field. I enrolled at Everest College in the Medical Assisting program where I was a straight “A” student. But then, “BOOM” just like that – it hit me. I became very ill and I paid yet another visit to the doctor because of one of those terrible headaches. I was hospitalized that night before my 22st
