“Sooo, Stella, how was your date yesterday?” As usual, Kira lacks any subtlety when asking about anything. “It wasn’t a date.” “You know it would break Gracie’s heart to hear that.” “I’m sure she’d live, because it was never a date.” She sighs dramatically. “Always crushing optimism for everyone else.” “We were working on a project, which you know, since you’re in our group.” “Hmm, maybe so, but you’re getting defensive, which means you maybe wished it was more than just studying?” “Are there any reactions in this situation that would dissuade you from your conclusion?” Kira cocks her head and pretends to think for a moment. “Not that I can think of.” “You’re impossible.” “Just improbable, because I am here after all. Say, have you …show more content…
The almost makeshift bleachers don’t seem enough to seat everyone, and eventually the people overflow to just be standing around the bleachers more than sitting. A few smart people who are probably veterans of this game have lawn chairs, but everyone else is out of luck. The Blackburn fans across the stadium are no joke either, leaving few gaps bigger than two people in their massive section of seating. I imagine the game is good for a football game, but I can’t help but wish maybe a little bit that this game was more like the last one. I almost miss having Jae by my side, not that I would admit it to anyone. Especially not Gracie or Kira. I would never hear the end of it then. The crowd is loud. Maybe I just didn’t notice how much at the last game, or maybe it’s worse this time because everyone is so excited. Regardless of which, the constant noise is working it’s way into my head and giving me a headache. Every couple minutes some people in our section start up a chant of “Hoou-ah, hoou-ah,” that lasts for a while then dies out, only to be started up again in a little …show more content…
I don’t see Gracie or Kira, so I check my phone. They’ll be waiting for me at the car because they wanted to make it out before it was a scramble. Oops. “My friends are waiting for me at the car again.” “So I’ll walk you again then.” “You don’t have to.” He shrugs. “But I’m going to.” Suddenly I’m reminded of the last time we did this. The color bomb and truckload of “popular” kids. Why is it that nobody seems to like Jae? I somehow doubt that he just started a fight with his team for no reason. Maybe there’s some reason they just think he’s worse than them. However, for some reason I doubt it’s socially acceptable to just ask “Hey, why does everyone seem to hate you?” On our way through the parking lot, we poke fun at a few girls who appear to be unable to fit a chair in the trunk of their car, even though it has to fit if they got it here. They’re all dressed in Dragon colors, with perky high ponytails and golden bows. “Do you know where you parked?” I search my mind for the answer. “That would be a very good

The first and most often type of person you see is the Geo Filter. The people usually consist of a group of teenage girls that simply go to the game for the Snapchat filters, or to make their friends jealous. You can find them taking selfies and group pictures the whole game. One of them will probably end up asking you to take a picture for them. Soccer is starting to become a very popular sport in the United States, but it still cannot compete with its very own stadium like many of the successful teams in the city such as the Dodgers, Angels, Lakers, Clippers and the Kings. The LA Galaxy had to move through out three stadiums as a franchise, The Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, The Rose Bowl, and Finally the StubHub Center (formally The Home Depot Center) which seems as this is their Home. The Stadium is located on CSU Dominguez Hills campus in the city Carson which is part of the Los Angeles County. There are many forms of transportation to the stadium either you can come through street, highway or through public transportation. All three are very efficient to get to the stadium.…

Before I went to the World Series, I thought it was a joke, but I guess not because on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at Progressive Field in Cleveland, OH was where the World Series was. I was more ecstatic than ever going to the World Series. When we got there, we had to choose our seats because it was standing room only(SRO). We chose our seats in foul ball territory, just about 15 feet away from the foul pole in left field. The game started and a country band named “Locash” sang the “Star Spangled Banner”, even fireworks shot up into the air making a crackling sound.…

Last Wednesday, I was lucky enough to attend a Rangers vs. Penguins hockey game at the renowned Madison Square Garden. Jerseys, hats, and merchandise filled the arena in a sea of blue, as fans poured into the arena. As my beloved Rangers started to fall behind to the Penguins, (in an eventual 6-1 drubbing) I started to exercise my sociological imagination, wondering how these disparate 18,000+ individuals came together to witness a mundane hockey game, and in essence create a social structure like no other. The first sociological term that sprung to mind when pondering this mystery of sports fans is the idea of a subculture present between fans of similar teams. A subculture is defined as a distinguishable group that shares a number of features with the dominant culture within which it exists while also having unique features such as language, customs, or values.…

The crowd of the stadium is what brings it to life. In one section you may have the businessmen who, a short time ago, got off their long work day at the office and are looking to enjoy a few beers with friends and cheer on their hometown team. Or, perhaps, they could be out with a client over an…

Sue Sylvester, head coach of the fictional William McKinley High cheer squad on this hit Fox television series, “Glee” once said, “There’s not much of a difference between a stadium full of cheering fans and an angry crowd screaming abuse at you. They’re both just making a lot of noise. How you take it is up to you. Convince yourself they’re cheering for you. You do that and some day they will”.…

Bandwagon Fans Do you know of a person who always roots for the best team in each sport they like to watch? Does this person switch teams each year based on which team is number one? If so, this person is more than likely a bandwagon fan in the sports society. I see people every year who wear different sports team shirts because the team they liked the previous year isn’t as good as they were, and I think it’s a disgrace to true fans like myself.…

Kayla’s laughter rang out in the darkness as we raced back to the house. We always spent Halloween pranking the houses around the neighborhood, but this year we went a little extreme. It was our last year before college and we were both moving out of state come fall. So we decided to have a little fun this Halloween and prank every house in the neighborhood, including our own so it wouldn’t be obvious we were the ones who did it. We were in the middle of the last house on the street when suddenly the light came on and someone started yelling.…

The side of our stands you can see in the picture were stands from the other school, they started filling out when it was clear our team was going to beat them. The student section was going crazy and that made our team even more excited than we already were. Since you cannot see them in this picture, the fans from the other team that you can see, makes it obvious how upset the other team and their fans were. This was such a huge game for our high school and for theirs, so we would have been upset too. I wish this picture captured our student section because seeing the fans cheering and standing up in their seats would bring so much more intensity to the picture and would allow someone who was not at this game or on the team to realize the significance of this particular…
