As demonstrated in his opening keynote at Sony’s 2014 CES Conference, Hirai embodies the fundamental ideologies that Sony promotes through its products and services. The company’s main idea is kando, a Japanese concept that describes a feeling of emotional involvement, and a sense of awe and admiration. The company and its employees work to invoke this spirit of kando not only in their consumers, but in themselves, as well. Due to the fact that Sony’s goals are more concerned about influencing society, rather than making profits off of their products, The company’s and its employees’ efforts are recognized more in a long-term kind of effect. They have created technology and pave the way for technological advancements that have enabled our society to be where it is today, whether it be through entertainment, movies, music, or network services.
