In the first season, Tara Knowles, Jax’s ex-girlfriend (later wife), was being stalked and harassed by her obsessed ex- boyfriend, Josh Kohn. In season 1 episode 8 “The Pull,” Kohn had broken into Tara’s home to attack her; as a result, Tara called Jax, who came to Tara’s rescue and kills Kohn claiming it is the only way to keep him away from Tara because if they called for help “he would be arrested then be released right after and he would be free to come back and screw with you all over again.” Jax and Tara then proceeded to have sex next to the dead body. In The Outsiders, violence plays an enormous role as it affects how most of the characters, like Johnny and Ponyboy, interact with each other, and how several of them perceive violence differently. Violence is present from the beginning, when Ponyboy is walking down the street by himself and he gets jumped by a group of angry Socs. Ponyboys says in the first chapter, “Greasers can’t walk alone too much or they’ll get jumped,” [10, Hinton]. Greasers know that there is violence and they accept it.…
