In the poem, “Song: Love Armed”, is written in couplet format. A couplet is two rhyming lines of poetry that forms a unit. The main subject of this poem revolves around the idea of love and how it affects certain emotions. The binary relationship within the poem is between two opposing forces; which is happiness and sadness. In the first line within each unit, the line expresses happy emotions; while in the second line, within the same unit, unhappiness is express. Not only does each unit transition between happiness and sadness; the entire poem changes as well. In the first half of the poem, it starts off with love being a blissful experience.
