Stay Humble Kendrick Lamar is by far the greatest rapper of today’s generation. K-dot (which is a nick name for Kendrick) has been working hard to become the greatest rapper of today’s generation from Pimp a Butterfly Lamar has become huge and has been nominated at the Grammys the same amount of times as the great Michael Jackson. Once I heard Lamar’s new song “Humble” in my opinion I decided to make him my favorite rapper next to The Game and Eminem. Listening to “Humble” felt like and sounded if Kendrick was making a comeback. In Rolling Stones, Christopher R. Weingarten says about K-Dot: “Kendrick Lamar has already taken hip-hop to the outer galaxies of style, …show more content…
I get way too petty once you let me do the extras Pull up on your block, then break it down: we playin' Tetris A.M. to the P.M., P.M. to the A.M., funk”. In Genius.com the lyrics seem to mean “ Kendrick conflates “bloods” and “buds.” “Taste blood” is an idiom used to indicate something exciting—sex, in Kendrick’s case. He may also be alluding to the Blood street gang—“phonk” is a common slang term used by Piru Bloods. He uses Tetris as an analogy for different sexual positions. In this course, he is saying for his competitors like Jcole, drake, big sean. etc. to just sit down be humble to his rise of superior or as the greatest rapper. “Who dat nigga thinkin' that he frontin' on Man-Man? (Man-Man) Get the fuck off my stage, I'm the Sandman (Sandman)”. Kendrick Lamar has references to things I’m un aware of such this reference meaning for poor performers to get off the stage or basically get escorted off the stage during this type of amateur night talent show. After looking it up what he meant he is referencing about a Apollo theater session where people perform songs poems or standup and if it’s a bad a person known a s the sand man will come and escort them of the stage. “I'm so fuckin' sick and tired of the Photoshop Show me somethin' natural like afro on Richard Pryor Show me somethin' natural like ass with some stretch marks”. Kendrick Lamar when he raps he talks about the topics that really don’t catch much of people’s attentions until brought by him, for instance he talks about how the media photoshops the models when going into magazines and to just accept their true beauty. When he mentions Richard Pryor he talks about his hairstyle the afro and how that most black women who have it tend to straighten it to “look beautiful” instead letting it stay curly and
