The comparison of animals and humans is very thought provoking to me. Marina sings “We steal, we kill, we lie, just like animals, but with far less grace” as just one of her comparisons. Animals do not have developed social skills such as morals and so they do whatever they have to do to survive, whether it means kill for food, or kill to survive. This is natural for them, and it is apart of the circle of life, but I think that a lot of humans don’t typically kill to survive, and especially don’t kill other humans for food, which is what animals do. I think humans are much worse than animals, as humans do anything that is needed to survive, but humans are capable of realising morality, unlike animals, and so, their ignorance of these values, and continuing to do the wrong thing, can be deemed as humans having “far less grace” than animals.
Humans believe themselves to be completely mature and evolved, but Marina in the song, depicts them as being no better than our animal counterparts, because of the fact those that murder tend to have no remorse. I think that this is a very acceptable comparison, and I believe myself that this is true. I think that some humans are definitely not better than animals, and even worse. Animals do the things they do, like kill, as it IS a part of their nature, and they must do it to survive, whereas, I think, there is no need at all, unless for self-defence, to hurt or even kill other
