The song “Stand By Me” is played at the end of the movie. The song is about friendship and standing by your friends in hard times. This is a major theme throughout the entire story. The railroad tracks symbolize the journey they take, how they follow the tracks as they try to find purpose in their lives and how they mature. The journey they take is not only a physical journey, but a mental one too. The scenes where Chris fights and saves Teddy from the train and where Gordie and Chris have the talk about grades and home life show the theme of friendship. In 1976, the Swedish group ABBA ravished the world with their hit song “Dancing Queen.” Even after 30 years since its exposition at King Carl Gustaf’s ball, the song remains a favorite in dance clubs. Mixed with pop-operatic harmonies and inspiration to the dance rhythm in George McCrae's "Rock Your Baby," as well as the drumming on Dr. John's 1972 album “Dr. John's Gumbo”, ABBA is able to convey an elated feeling of limitless joy and highlights the greatest music of the disco era. Through a beautifully woven blend of uplifting, empowering lyrics and a sophisticated melody scattered with heart-tugging high notes, “Dancing Queen” celebrates the carefree innocence of youth.…

The plot of Stand by Me is the emotional loss that the Gordie Lachance feels in relation to the death of his best friend, Chris Chambers, and how the friendship was strengthened then torn apart through a childhood quest. The film’s use of chronological order to tell the story moves from opening scene, to a flashback of events that then leads to the climax, and a fall of action. During the flashback, I see the train tracks as the path of order for the story and the resulting plot. The train track allows for stops along the way where the story develops through lighting, music, and time and space references. Lighting the mood with shadows or bright light brings the audience closer into the characters emotions.…

I can see what the author talks about, especially when there many jokes and stereotypes spread about your race and religion. previously when I heard a joke about the way I wear, my ethnicity, or religion I just ignore it and pretend like I didn’t hear anything, I knew I need to step out from this situation and try to do something about it, yet I didn’t have any clue or idea about what I should do. When I read “Don't Just Stand There," by Diane Cole, I get some ideas about how I need to react. I agree with the author when she said it is necessary to come up with a respond when you heard anything offensive about your religion, race, or ethnicity. In my opinion by not responding to the slurs seems like you agree with the comment or what it came…

“I Hold On” by Dierks Bentley addresses the topic of holding onto the things that are important to you. The song starts with him talking about how people are always saying that he should get a new truck, now that he has the money, but he doesn’t want a new truck because of its sentimental value. The theme of “I Hold On” is that you should hold onto the things that you can count on and believe in. In the lyrics, Dierks says “What they don't know is my dad and me, we drove her out to Tennessee, and she's still here and now he's gone” (Dierks Bentley 8-10). Now that his dad has passed, those memories with his dad in that truck mean more to him than having a brand new truck, which is why he holds onto that.…

Most who witnessed the sitting president of these United States, sing the spiritual hymn Amazing Grace at Mother Emanuel AME church in Charleston, SC, during his eulogy of falling spiritual warrior Rev. Clemmenta Picknecly would probably agree that it was overwhelming. It appeared to stir a feeling of connectively to all who sang along. Including, it is surmised, those around the world that identified with the words, reason and necessity for such a song at that moment in time. How ironic to sing a song, which was penned by a former white slaveholder, who turned abolitionist. And sing it in the state that was the lynchpin of the civil war.…
