Song Analysis Of Hopsin

Improved Essays
Hopsin, a rapper known for having abstract songs that loudly express his opinion. Recently released the song “Fly” which overall is about his dislike of todays market. He explains marketing techniques and tries to voice the way the system takes advantage of the average person. He even gives personal examples saying that all his teachers told him education is the only way to make it and gives the reply “then how did I get so much in my savings”. Overall through his song Hopsin explains multiple economic techniques and devices.
In the beginning of the song he says “the best type of marketing is marketing that doesn’t feel like marketing” talking about how when corporations market us, the goal is to make it not feel like an advertisement. They

But through his speech it cuts to a group of old businessmen sitting in a office playing a video game. In the video game the three businessmen are playing tug of war with a man representing the average person. As they play tug of war they start throwing clothes and shoes on the ground and the average man’s grip loosens as he tries to grab them. Eventually the rope gets tugged away because he was grabbing the outfit. As he looks down at his new outfit, the businessmen rip it out of his hands and hold the rope, clothes, and shoes and laugh as he looks at them.
“Fly” is a good representation of todays economy and its corruption. Also, even though its not talked about it the song I think it represents the control by a small group of people. A lot of the type a few very large corporations will own most of the smaller corporations in the same type of business. For example, ninety percent of television media is owned by GE, Newscorp, Disney, Viacom, Time Warner, and CBS. Hopsin main goal to the song was to encourage people to think for themselves. Overall through his song Hopsin explains multiple economic techniques and devices and it helps the listener open their

At first glance the figure is definitely out of the ordinary, the foot and a half tall sculpture is larger than doll sized and much too large to fit in a child's hand. The measurements for the figure are 5.6 inches in lengh, 4 inches in width, and 15.3 inches in height. The sculpture is split into four parts the three base parts feet, torso, and head, each around 2-3 inches each. The last part is the head decorations probably added on after the base was carved out. judging by the size of the figure it seem slightly too big to be childs toy and if made of solid pieces of wood would be too heavy for a young child to play with.…

Clune breaks apart the components of what has become known as American rap by arguing “that the two elements of the rap form are integrally related, in that the opposition between “I” and the generalized “you” provides the context in which the meaning of the money is established” (127). Economic concepts are a key element of his thesis as he states, “that the rap form constitutes an interpretation of money” (127). It is through lyrics which he provides a foundation for his argument on the basis of the relationship between the subject and…

This is another hip hop song that expresses extreme homophobia and violence. Fly Away is a very harsh tune that does not contain any meaningful and positive lyrics, instead it consists of offensive content that discriminates against gays, lesbians and trans-gendered individuals. Within the song, Goodie mob states, “Dirty men need to do more than bathe, huh/ How’s about burned at the stake/ Like the rest of those Sodomites/ Even though you had beautiful kids and a wife/ He still bent both ways, ain't no due process/ For boys that become guls or verse vica.”…

When I was in the musical Mary Poppins my sophomore year, the discussion backstage has changed to politics for some reason. One kid, a freshman member of the dance ensemble, claimed that he was glad the Donald Trump was President. Everybody else except me and another guy in the locker room, about ten boys, turned around and started to insult and argue with him. They called him some very mean things and told him to go back to his farm where he belonged. I met eyes with the other silent guy and we both shook our heads.…

The white man controls most of the majority hence perpetuating racial segregation right from the media, the prisons to the social environments. This has made people to choose a life of drug dealing and easy money as well as abusing the welfare system because they have no other alternative in a society that does not provide them with a motivation to change.…

The Greatest Movie Ever Sold I think that Morgan Spurlock took a risk by making this film on this topic. Speaking out against big and important companies seems to be a danger thing especially nowadays where commercials are everywhere and anytime. There are some companies that are very important and have influence from around the world like Nike and Cocoa-Cola. His film started by commercials in some place where ads are everywhere. There were ads in buildings, busses, taxis, movies, and even in restrooms.…

The Killers wrote a song called “Human” in 2008. It peaked at number thirty-two on the Billboard Hot 100 in the week of October 18, 2008. This song has an intriguing lyric,” Are we human, or are we dancers”, that coincides with bioethics. The lyric can transcribe as are we human, are we actual people living out normal lives, not controlled by anyone, or are we dancer, are we puppets controlled by someone else for someone else’s entertainment. I believe that we are not puppets controlled by a superior being, but we are humans with our own free will to accomplish whatever we prefer to do whether it be good or evil.…

Hopsin raps about how corporations tailor ideas into peoples lives with advertising. In a document, "NEGATIVE EFFECTS OF PERSONALIZATION IN DIRECT MARKETING", "More and more companies which until recently treated their target markets in a mass one-size-fits-all manner, now personalize their products and/or other marketing mix tools to better match their offer to the needs of particular customers" (Sejba, Aleksandra, and Pilarczyk). The people having marketing tailored to there desires, is bad because the people lose a lot of money. Personalized marketing is usually more interesting than general advertising. Peoples ideas change each time an advertisement is viewed, making the consumer more willing to except a message.…
