Song Analysis: Girl On Fire

Improved Essays
I had "Girl On Fire" by Alicia Keys in mind, but I chose my daughter’s favorite song, “Roar” by Katy Perry. This song is her anthem, and she will make you nauseous every time she sings it at the top of her lungs. What makes this song so powerful is because of the apparent reason that it has a motivational aspect that empowers women to break the mold of female stereotypes. The idea of Katy “roaring” speaks about women who can take care of themselves without needing to be rescued, much like the image of Katy portrays in the music video. She overcame her fears and conquered the jungle, through her willpower and strength. She built herself a delightful spot in the jungle to live, where the animals that used to frighten her turned into her friends.

Tina Campbell came out singing “Destiny” with her powerful tone ability of touching the souls of those listening. Throughout the episode we saw screens shots of the audience but one thing to consider and not forget is those tuning in at home into Dr. Bobby Jones Gospel. Tina Campbell portrays the message of the song as if she herself experienced the message. Campbell projected her voice at the right moments and her standing in one spot on stage made the song feel even more personal.…
