How to be the Perfect Man

To be perfect is having all the required or desirable elements, qualities, or characteristics; as good as it is possible to be. Most people strive for perfection but the key is to listen to the music around you to see what others view as perfect today.
Songs like “I need a hero” by Bonnie Tyler shows men what exactly a perfect man would be. First the song criticize men for not being like Hercules or like a God. Bonnie Tyler’s song says we must find the man of our dreams. The song only expresses how men should be knights, they need to be strong, fast, and “gotta be fresh from the fight”. The guide woman use to be perfect is pop culture. An amazing and easy pop culture sign is to look at how women are described in modern day songs. In the superficial song “Baby Got Back” by Sir Mix-a-Lot it seems that the perfect girl most have the perfect body and in this case they is a very curvy body with a rather big butt. It seems like with Sir Mix-a-Lot’s view of perfect others will dislike or not respect your choice of being perfect by have a big butt or dress to improve your overall body shape. The song “Everything I Ask For” by The Main enforces that girls look is very important with lyrics like “She looks best without her clothes”. They also express that how a girl ask does not really matter as song as a hot girl finds a guy that will put up with them. Honestly most songs about women come off as very shallow and make woman look like they need to be well endowed to get the attention of any man. The song” A Girl Worth Fighting For” convey a similar situation when describing a the perfect girl. Throughout the song one soldier's request was for his woman to be super pale, another soldier need his future wife to marvel at how strong he is and how well he fights, and the final soldier explains he just wants someone who will always cook for him. All in all perfect is viewed in different ways both physically and mentally. Hopefully while you read this you realized being perfect to other people is extremely

In 1976, the Swedish group ABBA ravished the world with their hit song “Dancing Queen.” Even after 30 years since its exposition at King Carl Gustaf’s ball, the song remains a favorite in dance clubs. Mixed with pop-operatic harmonies and inspiration to the dance rhythm in George McCrae's "Rock Your Baby," as well as the drumming on Dr. John's 1972 album “Dr. John's Gumbo”, ABBA is able to convey an elated feeling of limitless joy and highlights the greatest music of the disco era. Through a beautifully woven blend of uplifting, empowering lyrics and a sophisticated melody scattered with heart-tugging high notes, “Dancing Queen” celebrates the carefree innocence of youth.…

In the article "Ruminations of a Feminist Fitness Instructor" by Alisa L. Valdes, she talks about how society has shaped how women view their body and how they can't view their imperfections as beauty. As a feminist aerobics instructor, she tries to motivate women to not stress over what society and media refer to as the perfect body. Women already have to deal with the lack of inequality in the workforce, we don't need to be worrying about body image as well.…

In the second stanza, it says “remember if you lie down with dogs, you’ll come up with fleas, and no man will buy a cow if he gets the milk for free” (5-6). Meaning guys don’t want a dirty girl if they know they can get someone else that isn’t with any “fleas” meaning sexual diseases. Society targets dirty girls harsher than dirty guys. Oftentimes, girls make one bad mistake and from that moment, later on, they are called hoes, sluts or easy to get. However, for dirty guys, it’s not seen as bad and forgiven in a much linear way.…

Perfect is something you can quite put your finger on, it changes from person to person from age to age from religion, ethnicity, where you're from it all depends on something and you will never be able to reach it. Maybe perfect to a baby is getting a nice nap but for a teenager it could be getting a good grade on a test. The vision of perfect is forever changing before you can even get a good look at it. That's why trying to make the world perfect is impossible because there is so many opinions from so many people all over the world you will never be able to reach everyone's perfect by the time its run away and completely changed itself to a whole new thing. Making mistakes is better than faking perfection because at least when you make a mistake you are able to grow from it…

On November 2, 2016 black pop star Beyonce Knowles performed her country inspired song “Daddy Lessons” at the Country Music Awards in Nashville, Tennessee. The song, inspired by southern blues, New Orleans jazz, and American country is often read as a song about black masculinity and infidelity. Beyonce’s chorus, “My daddy warned me about men like you,” speaks to the legacies of broken black families. However, in this paper I want to suggest that “Daddy Lessons,” is as much about the 2nd amendment and black gun rights as it is about infidelity. In this paper, by doing a close reading of Beyonce’s references to the 2nd amendment I intend to draw connections between the song and the legacies of black power and the Black Panther movement.…

I chose the song Baby Got Back because i thought the words mixed up were very funny. Instead of hearing the words “I like big butts and I cannot lie”, people heard “I like big butts in a can of limes.” I t is really funny to think about the words and how similar they sound ("I like big butts in a can of limes” n.p.). Another song I chose was Ain't Talkin 'Bout Love. Listeners heard the lyrics as “Ain't Taco Bell love.”…

In order to understand how the idea of physical perfection comes to be in today's society, we must first analyze Greek culture, where the human body was idolized. In ancient Greece, religion was a prominent part of daily life. The Greeks worshiped several gods, and each of these gods represented a certain aspect of humanity. As a result, the Greeks imagined the gods with human bodies and characteristics, however, they still differed greatly from the normal human. The Greeks depicted the gods as ethereal beings, whose bodies surpassed all.…

The process of finding the “right” person is often one of trial and error. As people go through relationships, trying to find someone that meshes perfectly with their own personality, they are also subject to the criticism of their chosen romantic partner from those around them. Family and friends don’t reserve judgement, while you are left feeling as if they don’t truly understand the person that they so heavily criticize as, “not right for you,” or “a totally different person than what we envisioned you with”. Lana del Rey’s song “Brooklyn Baby” (Rey) from her album Ultraviolence describes a love that is understood only by the two people sharing it, judged by those around them as too different, Lana del Rey enforces the notion that love,…

If you want others to respect yourself, the first step you must take is learning to respect yourself. You must respect your rights, your duties, your way of life, the way of thinking and feeling etc. You disgrace yourself while not being true to you, trying to copy others, depending on others, and not listening to your inner thoughts. For how long will you depend on others? How long will you ignore your own thoughts?…

Lyrics like “My persuasion can build a nation” and “You will do anything for me” cast women in an inactive role even though they are supposedly in control. Rather than actually building a nation or doing things for themselves, these lyrics imply that women simply “persuade” others (presumably men) to do their bidding. This focus on passiveness comes from emphasized femininity, which stresses compliance and inaction for women (Williams Lecture, 10/20/15). The video also presents traditional stereotypes for men. The men of the rival group are dressed in military garb and wield weapons, representing the glorification of violence associated with hyper-masculinity.…
