This was one of the most successful Christmas song. The author of the song use the literary devices without knowing. The three literary devices in the song are dialogue, repetition and

Repetition there’s some repetition in the song, this is one of them “All I want for Christmas is you” because during the song she says that phrase many times to express her love for her man. (2,8). First example love “I just want you for my own more than u could ever know make my wish come true all i want for christmas is you” so basically like the writer said before all she wants is her husband/boyfriend she is so in love with him that all she wants him is to be with her on Christmas day (2,5-8). Second example sad “... santa, won’t you bring me the one I really need? Won’t you please bring my baby to me” so she is really sad because Santa won’t give her want she wants and that’s her beloved husband/boyfriend (10,41-42). Last example mad “ I don’t need to hang my stocking there upon the fireplace” and “ I won’t make a list and send it to the North Pole for Saint Nick” so she is mad because they keep asking her is she want something for Christmas and all she want for Christmas is for him to stand in front of her door and surprise her on Christmas morning or Christmas eve (4,13-14)

A few months after writing his song “Cinderella”, Steven Curtis Chapman’s youngest daughter was tragically hit by her brother’s SUV when she ran out to meet him upon his arrival home. This devastating event gave a whole new meaning to “Cinderella”, and Chapman poured more emotion into his performance of the song than ever before, using the song as a way to cope with his grief. In David Lindsay-Abaire’s Rabbit Hole, the Corbett family suffers from a similar experience when Becca and Howie’s four-year-old son, Danny, runs out in front of a car and is killed. All of the characters deal with the grief of losing someone so young, and all of them grieve in their own, unique ways. Lindsay-Abaire displays the theme that, while grief is a universal…

The timbre changes through out the show, but in the portion where they sung hallelujah the timbre was very bright with high and low harmony’s mixed together. Handel’s Messiah was constructed into 3 parts, part 1 being in accordance with Christmas, part 2 with Easter, and part 3 with the end of all time. Through out all of the scenes the lines in the songs correspond with verses from the bible. For example, in part 1 scene 3 “Behold, a virgin shall conceive” comes directly from the bible verses Isaiah 7:14 and Matthew 1:23. Often when referring to Christmas, people think of Christmas trees, Santa Clause, and presents, but this lyric reminds us of the conception of Jesus Christ and his purpose for being brought into the world.…

Tina Campbell came out singing “Destiny” with her powerful tone ability of touching the souls of those listening. Throughout the episode we saw screens shots of the audience but one thing to consider and not forget is those tuning in at home into Dr. Bobby Jones Gospel. Tina Campbell portrays the message of the song as if she herself experienced the message. Campbell projected her voice at the right moments and her standing in one spot on stage made the song feel even more personal.…

Jessica Risner Heather Ward English 1101-41 October 5, 2015 “Love You Forever” Literary Analysis One of my favorite stories to read to my daughter is “Love You Forever” by Robert Munsch. The story is about a mother who sneaks into her son’s room, once he is sleeping, and sings a song to him. She sings to him these words “I’ll love you forever, I’ll like you for always, as long as I’m living, my baby you’ll be (pg. 14).” My favorite part about this story is that once her son is a teenager, and even a grown adult, she still sneaks into his room and sings her song to him.…

I think that Last Christmas is a song that tells us to be careful who we give our love to and only to give it when you are sure you love each other. This song features a variety of literary devices such as repetition, metaphors, and imagery. The first literary device used is repetition. Repetition is an important part of any song because it provides rhyme, structure, and is usually the chorus of the song.…

Most who witnessed the sitting president of these United States, sing the spiritual hymn Amazing Grace at Mother Emanuel AME church in Charleston, SC, during his eulogy of falling spiritual warrior Rev. Clemmenta Picknecly would probably agree that it was overwhelming. It appeared to stir a feeling of connectively to all who sang along. Including, it is surmised, those around the world that identified with the words, reason and necessity for such a song at that moment in time. How ironic to sing a song, which was penned by a former white slaveholder, who turned abolitionist. And sing it in the state that was the lynchpin of the civil war.…

“All Star” by Smash Mouth is encouraging song about choosing to be spectacular at what you do. The tone of the song is quite casual, written in first person and as if it was a conversation between the listener and the singer. It starts off with the singer admitting that “somebody once told me that the world is going to roll me”, and that he “ain’t the sharpest tool in the shed”. Clearly he doesn’t think that he amounts to much in the long run when it comes to following the rules and book smarts. This is furthered by him going to say that “it didn’t make sense not to live for fun, your brain gets smart but your head gets dumb”.…

Upon seeing A Christmas Carol on the night of Friday, November 18th, I had what I thought to be a firm understanding of the Charles Dicken’s classic. It was until the show was over that I realized my previous interpretation was completely senseless, with little to no opinion deriving beyond the script. As I dove into the performance in the Joan C, Edwards playhouse, I made personal connections that I had never made before when watching other adaptions of A Christmas Carol, in particular Scrooge (1970), my father’s favorite. Every detail of this performance aided in my overwhelming positive review, asserting this play as my favorite of all the revisions I have seen.…
