Treatments
Typically, there are no treatments needed for sleepwalking. But, although there are no treatments, there are ways and remedies to combat and reduce this sleeping disorder. Parents of a sleepwalker should always take precautionary safety measures. According to Morin et al. and Murtagh and Greenwood, if a person with a sleeping disorder practices good sleep hygiene and healthy sleep-related habits an individual can overcome their sleep disturbance in a matter of weeks (as cited in Krause & Corts, 2012). Mume (2010) states that the management of sleepwalking relies on safety precautions and drugs. Drugs that have been effective for sleepwalkers include diazepam and other benzodiazepines, as well as the tricyclic antidepressants. Though
